On Top of Oslo Opera House

Completed in 2007 both ahead of schedule and under budget, the Oslo Operahouse was the largest cultural structure built in Norway since Nidarosdomen was completed. The exterior, clad in granite and Italian marble, evokes an iceberg rising from the water with stark, straight lines and sharp angles. Inside, a rippling wall of golden oak provides a warm contrast to the exterior.

A Day of Reflection

Reflections on the Nidaros, Trondheim

Reflections on the Nidaros, Trondheim

Reflections on the Nidaros, Trondheim

Warehouses reflected on the Nidaros, Trondheim

Beginning at the Hyttfossen waterfall below Selbusjø, the Nidelva wends its way through Trondelag county. Along the way it powers a total of six hydro-electric stations before terminating in Trondheimsfjord. Towards the end it runs through the city centre of Trondheim, providing a serene backdrop to the old warehouses that line its banks. It is so serene in fact, that it has inspired its very own waltz; Nidelven Stille og Vakker du er ("Nidelven [how] Still and Beautiful you are").
